Will DoubleMemory ever close or shut down?

DoubleMemory is built to last. We will only close when Apple closes CloudKit – and even then, you can still use DoubleMemory without the sync functionality. We are "default alive" software because we follow local-first principles – your data lives on your device, not our servers.

Is my data secure and private?

Absolutely. All your data is stored locally on your device and synced through your personal iCloud account. We never see or store your content on our servers. Your memories remain completely private and under your control. Learn more in our privacy policy and terms of service.

Does DoubleMemory work offline?

Yes! DoubleMemory is designed to work completely offline. You can capture, search, and organize your content without an internet connection. When you're back online, everything automatically syncs with iCloud across your devices.
Note: DoubleMemory captures links and metadata by default, not full page content. To open the full page, you'll need an internet connection. We're working on offline page capture for a future release.

What types of content can I save?

Currently, you can save text and links from any app on your Mac. DoubleMemory automatically creates beautiful cards for popular websites like Amazon, Spotify, Reddit, TikTok, and many others. If you need support for other content types like images, PDFs, or documents, please submit a feature request in our Discord community or email us at [email protected] so we can prioritise different note types based on user demand.

How much does DoubleMemory cost?

DoubleMemory is completely free for all core features, and capturing content will always remain free. We believe in earning your trust first before asking for payment.

Our philosophy is simple: we only charge when we're genuinely creating value for you. Future premium features will focus on advanced retrieval, AI-powered organisation, and enhanced content consumption tools. Learn more in our value-aligning model.

We also offer a Pro plan ($9.99/year to start, then $17.99/year) for supporters who want to fuel sustained development. It removes the "Subscribe" button and gives you unlimited Saved Searches (free users can save up to 3).

Prefer a one-time purchase? Our Kindred Spirit lifetime plan is planned at $59.99. You're absolutely welcome to use DoubleMemory forever without subscribing.

Can I import my bookmarks from other apps?

Yes! We provide import tools for popular services like Pocket, Omnivore, Readwise, and a magical custom GPT importer. You can easily migrate your existing bookmarks and reading lists to DoubleMemory. Visit our import tools page for detailed instructions.

Is there a Windows or Android version?

Currently, DoubleMemory is exclusively available for Apple devices (macOS and iOS). We've built it specifically for the Apple ecosystem to provide the best possible performance and integration with native features like iCloud sync. We are hoping to capture a tiny portion (~1%) of the Apple market, before we can afford to venture into other platforms.
